Warmer Monday Evening, Cloudy and Slightly Cooler Tuesday
Forecast:
A warm close to the evening across southeast Nebraska with a few clouds moving in to close out our Monday. Temperatures linger in the 80s in Lincoln until shortly after 7 p.m. before temperatures fall into the 60s later this evening.
September 29 marks the earliest (after summer) that the Capital City has seen measurable snowfall. Lincoln received 0.8″ of snow on this day 40 years ago, with that same storm bringing half a foot of snow in and around the Tri-Cities.
Fortunately, there is no snow in the current forecast, with our overnight lows this evening dropping to the upper 50s and lower 60s (nearly double the freezing temperature of water)!
Overnight cloud cover in the Capital City and lows in the upper 50s with winds out of the south-southeast.
Mostly cloudy skies continue on Tuesday for much of southeast Nebraska with a passing upper-level disturbance. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s, with a small chance of a few sprinkles, especially out near the Tri-Cities.
In Lincoln, a mostly cloudy Tuesday ahead with temperatures starting the morning off in the 60s. Winds remain stronger out of the south-southeast between 5-15 miles per hour, gusting to 20.
Most of us should stay dry, but a sprinkle or two in Lincoln throughout the day cannot be ruled out. High temperatures in the Capital City will reach the lower 80s on Tuesday.
Mostly sunny skies as October starts on Wednesday. Temperatures climb heading into the end of this week, with the chance to see the upper 80s and lower 90s by Friday. Storm chances are increasing for Nebraska vs Michigan State on Saturday, with a pronounced upper-level disturbance passing through the plains this weekend. Following a cold front, more seasonable temperatures return next week, with highs in the 70s.
