Warmer Thursday Before Snow & Blustery Cold
This afternoon will be warmer across Nebraska. Temperatures warming into the 50s and 60s further west where more sunshine is present. Breezy SW winds will gust 30–40 mph, helping with warmth. Try and enjoy today, before very windy and BLUSTERY conditions Friday and Saturday!
Blowing light snow will develop across Nebraska early Friday morning. A few bands of moderate snowfall are possible through the afternoon and evening. Brief sleet could occur near 11am in SE Nebraska. Strong winds will significantly reduce visibility at times, potentially dropping to near zero. Snow accumulations will vary and be difficult to measure as gusty winds limit totals and cause blowing and drifting.
Through Saturday, the best chance for more snow will be near Valentine and along the Dakota/Nebraska border.
Saturday will be downright cold and blustery. Wind chill values will drop 10–25 degrees BELOW ZERO Saturday morning, with strong NW winds continuing through the afternoon.
STRONG northwest wind gusts up to 55+ mph will continue across western Nebraska through Saturday.
Bundle up! BLUSTERY and windy conditions continue through the weekend. Light blowing snow is likely Friday across Nebraska. Wind chill values could reach 10-20 degrees below zero Saturday morning. A great day to stay inside on Saturday. Late next week, a potential system could bring colder air with light rain/snow chances. Stay tuned and stay safe out there.
