Warmer, windy Sunday with higher fire risk
The streak of fantastic continues. Temperatures Saturday afternoon topped out in the lower 70°s throughout southeast Nebraska – reaching 71° in Lincoln. That is Lincoln’s second 70° day of 2021 which is the highest through March 6 in three years.
Temperatures are going higher Sunday – topping out in the middle 70°s – but along with that will be higher winds. Winds will begin to gust 20-30 mph by late morning, and gust 30-40 mph during the afternoon. Once the sun sets winds will begin to diminish.
Sunset Sunday will be at 6:25 p.m. We gain three minutes of daylight Sunday!
With the higher temperatures, gusty winds, and dry air in place there will be an increased risk of fire. This is mainly confined to extreme southeast Nebraska, along and south of a line from Nebraska City to Hebron. The threat will be Sunday afternoon and will quickly diminish after 5 p.m.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear skies and mild temperatures. Lows will be in the lower 40°s.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny skies. It will be warmer with high temperatures in the lower to middle 70°s. Winds will be gusting 30-40 mph late morning through late afternoon.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70°s.
