Warmer with 90-degree temperatures on the way

Labor Day started with some dense fog advisories to the west of Lincoln this morning, with visibilities dropping down to below a quarter mile. But with the sun rising, the fog burned off quickly to give way to sunshine for the rest of the afternoon.

For the first full week of September, temperatures are going to be warming up into the 90s for the next few days. With high pressure and mostly clear skies, the sun will have ample opportunities to keep high temperatures several degrees above normal for this time of year.

With mostly clear skies Monday evening, overnight lows will decrease to near normal temperature in the upper 50s and low 60s with winds out of the southeast.

Winds are expected to pick up for a bit in the morning hours, gusting upward of 15 miles per hour out of the south. That flow will be part of the reason we will be able to hit 90s by tomorrow afternoon. On average over the past 20 years, the last day that Lincoln sees temperatures over 90° is around September 21st.

Dma Tomorrow High

As the holiday weekend closes out, warmer weather is here to stay for the rest of the work week. Model guidance currently suggests storm chances could be likely Friday evening into the early morning hours on Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures in time for football. Other than that chance, dry days are ahead for most of the forecast.
