Warmer yet windy this Wednesday; heating up again this weekend
Temperatures overnight into Wednesday morning remained a lot warmer than how we started Tuesday. The temperature difference for many locations across eastern Nebraska was warmer by 15-25 degrees early.
Though we await stronger northwest winds to develop today.
Northwest winds in Lincoln will be around 35-40 mph, and although we are expected to be slightly warmer today… those winds will add a bite to the warming we try to do.
The strongest winds will be north of I-80 through northeast Nebraska, with gusts up to 45 mph possible that way. Be sure to secure any Christmas decorations that could blow away!
During the early afternoon hours, we’ll make a run at 50 degrees. Most of southern Nebraska will see 50s, but temperatures will struggle with the stronger winds in northeast Nebraska.
Temperatures nosedive on Thursday as we get cold air to ride in on these stronger winds tonight. It’ll only be one day to brace for colder temperatures, as we warm the rest of the week.
Looking into the wind chills Thursday morning, you’ll want to prepare for single digit wind chills both above and below zero.
Afternoon highs Thursday will be brutal after nearing 50 on Wednesday. North winds should be a lot lighter tomorrow, however.
And hinting at Christmas decoration earlier, if you haven’t put them up yet: this weekend looks wonderful! We start to warm Friday, and get warmer day by day through the weekend.
Highs will be in the middle and upper 50s (maybe even closing in on 60 by Sunday).
