Warrant amnesty event a big success, officials say

Lancaster County and City attorneys are celebrating a successful warrant-clearing event.

The offices cleared almost 100 warrants during ‘Warrant Night’ on Tuesday.

Warrant Night promised amnesty to anyone with an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, where they could get a new court date set.

“We’re excited to work with the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office and the public defenders office to figure out if that’s something that’s going to save taxpayer dollars and help out people who want to get tickets taken care of but can’t because of their work life,” said City Attorney Jeff Kirkpatrick.

Officials say there are approximately 5,000 outstanding warrants in Lancaster County.
