Washington County official killed in crash on eastern Nebraska highway

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Washington County official was killed Thursday night in a crash on a rural eastern Nebraska highway.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the crash happened around 7 p.m. on Highway 30 near Arlington.

A Jeep Wrangler was heading west when the driver – 45-year-old Jordan Rishel – lost control due to slick conditions, the patrol said.

The Jeep went into the opposite lane and crashed into a Ford F-150.

Rishel was pronounced dead at the scene.  The two occupants of the Ford were taken to a hospital in Fremont with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Rishel was the executive director of the Washington County Community Foundation.

She also previously served as a member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors.

“Losing someone so involved and dedicated to the betterment of the community is truly a loss for everyone who knew her,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The crash is under investigation.
