WATCH: Authorities set off grenade found in Lincoln home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An active grenade was found in a Lincoln house on Thursday afternoon.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a home near Ninth and Manatt streets about 1 p.m.

LFR called in a specialized military team to handle the device.

Officials said it was a dangerous situation because the grenade could have gone off at any moment.

After removing the grenade, officials detonated it in a safe area.

LFR said the family of a deceased veteran found the grenade while cleaning out his home.
