WATCH: Boy runs 1 mile to honor fallen Nebraska Trooper Kyle McAcy

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A young boy ran 1 mile on Friday in memory of fallen Nebraska State Trooper Kyle McAcy.

Zachary, a youth runner for the Running 4 Heroes group, was bearing the blue line flag.

He was escorted by police and firefighters.

This was the 1,911th mile that the group has run in honor of first responders killed in the line of duty.

McAcy was killed Monday in a crash on Interstate 80 between Ashland and Greenwood.

A snowplow backed into him, and he died on scene.

His funeral is set for Thursday at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston.
