WATCH: Man rushes to safety as car careens off the road in western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A bystander survived a close call Sunday in a car crash in western Nebraska.

It happened shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at a gas station on Highway 30 in Brady, about 20 miles east of North Platte.

Video shared by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office shows a man cleaning the windshield on his pickup truck.

Suddenly, an out-of-control car barrels toward the man, who rushes out of the way as the car flips on its side.

The sheriff’s office said the driver was taken to a North Platte hospital with minor injuries.

The man washing his windshield was hit in the lower leg. He had some pain later that night, authorities said, but was not seriously injured.

The pickup and a streetlight pole were also damaged in the crash.

Investigators said the driver was going at least 65 mph in a 40 mph zone.

He will be ticked for reckless driving, no driver’s license, no proof of insurance and expired registration.
