WATCH: Man wielding hammer smashes jewelry cases at Gateway Mall in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are looking to identify the hammer-wielding man who smashed two jewelry cases at a Lincoln mall in October.

On Oct. 6, a man demanded that an employee open the jewelry cases at Zales inside Gateway Mall near 65th and O streets.

After the employee denied his request, the man told him that “multiple people were coming with guns,” according to police.

He then went over to two cases, smashed them with a hammer and ran off with thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
