Water temporarily shut off after semi hits fire hydrant in northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A fire hydrant in northwest Lincoln was damaged in a crash Tuesday morning.

About 7 a.m., a semitrailer hit a hydrant at Northwest First Street and West Fletcher Avenue while making a sharp turn, officials said.

Water was shut off for a few hours, according to the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department, and the intersection was closed.

By early Tuesday evening, the water was back on, and all but one lane had been reopened.

That lane will be closed while repairs are made, which is expected to take about a week and a half.
