Water Warning for Northwest Lincoln Residents

Residents on the northwest side of Lincoln are being warned about a bacteria in their drinking water called coliform. The city announced those living between 48th Street west and northwest 57th, specifically those between Superior street down to Thatcher, should boil their water, and drink bottled water until more testing is done.

City officials do not know how the bacteria got into the water system, but they are concerned. Because when coliform shows up, there is usually more bacteria to be found. They say there is no immediate health risk to the public.

Officials are asking for the public's help to find the cause of the problem. Anyone experiencing unusually low water pressure is asked to call Lincoln Water System immediately.
