Waverly man accused of firing stray bullet into neighbors’ house
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Waverly man is in jail after authorities say he fired a gunshot that went into his neighbors’ house.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that Joaquin Garcia, 39, got into a fight at his home about 12:30 a.m. Friday.
He shot at two people, according to the sheriff’s office, but the bullet missed them and went into the house next door.
It is “very lucky” that no one was injured, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.
“The round came very close to striking both of them,” he said.
Three children were in the home at the time, Houchin said, and Garcia was found with 1.5 grams of cocaine.
Garcia was arrested on multiple charges, including attempted second-degree assault, terroristic threats, child abuse, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance.
He was taken to the Lancaster County Jail, where he remained as of Monday night.
