‘We come out and just go crazy’: Monster Jam rolls into Lincoln for the weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Monster Jam returns to Pinnacle Bank Arena for three shows of high-flying action over the weekend.

The first performance is Friday at 7 p.m., followed by two shows on Saturday, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Channel 8 talked to one of the drivers competing this weekend.

“My gosh, when I get out the window and see all the kids smiling ear to ear, jaw on the floor, that just warms my heart,” said Tony Ochs, driver of ThunderROARus.

These trucks weigh 12,000 pounds and are set on 66-inch tires, with 1,500-horsepower engines running on racing fuel.

The show will start out with races, then move into two-wheel skills, where the audience will judge a winner.

Finally, the event ends with the showstopper: freestyle.

“That’s what everyone comes out to see,” Ochs said. “We come out and just go crazy in these Monster Jam trucks.”

The winner of the competition gets a trophy, but Ochs said it’s really about bragging rights.

“We’re all friends out here,” he said. “But everybody wants to win and we’re going to do whatever it takes to get there.”
