‘We need your help’: Lincoln’s Capital Humane Society at 100% capacity for dogs

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Capital Humane Society is full of dogs and needs the community’s help.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, the shelter said both of its Lincoln locations are at 100% capacity for dogs.
Adoptions for all pets — including puppies, adult dogs and cats — have been reduced by 50%.
But the shelter said the promotion is a “Band-Aid on a gaping wound.”
“Our shelter reaching maximum capacity will be an ongoing problem that will lessen by spaying and neutering the pets in our community,” the rescue said.
The Capital Humane Society provides low-cost spay and neuter surgeries at its Stransky Veterinary Center. You can learn more by calling 402-441-4488.
The nonprofit is not accepting dog surrenders until further notice unless it is an “extreme emergency.”
“Please adopt today, and if you can’t, share this message with your friends and family,” the shelter said. “We need your help.”
