Weekend fire at west Lincoln motel intentionally set, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The fire at a west Lincoln motel on Saturday was intentionally set, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to the SureStay Motel by Best Western on West O Street and South Coddington Avenue just before 10 a.m.

Police said Monday that the cause of the fire was first-degree arson.

The fire was started in five separate locations within one of the rooms, according to LPD.

LFR said the fire caused around $10,000 in structural damage and $10,000 in damage to personal belongings.

The investigation is still ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
