Weekend road closures planned as Star City Pride gets underway in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Star City Pride gets underway on Friday, and the City of Lincoln wants everyone to be ready for street closures.

The annual festival begins at 4 p.m.  But city officials don’t want anyone getting caught off guard on Saturday morning, when several roads will be shut down for the parade.

From 7 to 11 a.m., South 14th and South 16th Streets will be closed from K to H Streets.

Those sections of K and H Streets will also be shut down during that time.

So if you have any plans near the Nebraska State Capitol, you may want to prepare an alternate route.

Star City Pride will feature performances by drag entertainers and musical guests, in addition to Saturday morning’s parade.

You can grab snacks from vendors like Sunflower House Cookies and Sarah’s Southern Comfort Foods.

This year, security will be ramped up due to increased threats against the LGBTQ+ community.

Everyone is also asked to test for COVID-19 beforehand and stay home if you’re feeling sick.
