LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 20-mile stretch of Interstate 80 in western Nebraska reopened on Friday after a 24-hour closure.
Two semitrailers crashed near Maxwell about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Nebraska State Patrol, sending barrels of a hazardous material into the median.
The patrol said the chemical, called ITCS-TRY4, leaked out of a few of the barrels.
So the interstate was closed between North Platte and Brady while the spill was cleaned up.
Westbound I-80 was reopened about 2:30 p.m. Friday, and the eastbound lanes opened about 6 p.m.
Officials say there was no danger to the public.
One of the semi drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash, the patrol said.
