Westlake Ace Hardware Partners With Salvation Army Lincoln For Fan Drive

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —Local business leaders are working to help the community beat the heat this summer.

Westlake Ace Hardware is partnering with the Salvation Army for its 11th annual fan drive.

Major Mark Anderson with the Salvation Army says as the temperatures in the state rise, so does the need for fans. “It does get warm here”, Major Anderson explained, “not like it does in some parts of the country, but it does get warm and it’s great to have the air movement.”

Major Anderson says the fans become a “safety piece” for many of the families that come to the Salvation Army.

The fan drive started in 2013 at a Salvation Army location in Kansas. Over the years the initiative spread to nearly 130 stores across the country.

So far the charity giant donated over 52-thousand fans to those in need.

Last year, the Salvation Army and Westlake Ace Hardware were able to raise $1000 to supply fans all over the country. Leaders are hoping to have the same success this year.

To donate to the initiative head to Westlake’s website.

Or conveniently donate at the register at your local westlake ace hardware store.

The fan drive ends Sunday, June 18th.
