What’s being built at Lincoln’s old Pershing Auditorium site? Developers lay out plans

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Developers on Thursday announced a mixed-use development building in the heart of downtown Lincoln.

MURAL is being built on the site of the former Pershing Auditorium building on Centennial Mall Street between M and N streets.

The $30 million building will feature a mix of residential and commercial spaces, according to the developer, White Lotus Group.

Floors two through five will house 90 affordable apartments for various income levels, officials said in a press release.

“When we started this project a number of years ago, we felt — and it was supported by market study — additional affordable housing units in the urban core was needed,” said Drew Sova, executive vice president of White Lotus.

The first floor will include a variety of commercial spaces, including health care services.

MURAL will also offer 47 underground parking spaces, accessible via ramp off M Street.

The development’s name is a tribute to the mural that was on Pershing Auditorium.

Construction of MURAL began this summer, and White Lotus took ownership of the lot in the last week.

The project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
