Wind chills drop below zero for Thursday morning
A cold Thursday morning is on tap for southeast Nebraska. Temperatures will drop to near 0° and winds will send wind chills -10° to -23° below zero as many leave for school and work.
Clouds will start to decrease overnight. Air temperatures will range from -2° to 2° by 8 a.m. Thursday. Winds will be sustained 10 to 15 mph. Wind gusts could reach 25 mph. Because of the wind chill Thursday morning, Wind Chill Advisories have been issued for much of southeast Nebraska. It is in effect through mid-morning Thursday.
The coldest wind chills will likely occur between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Thursday, so don’t get caught off guard if heading out between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Temperatures will only rebound to the upper teens to around 20° Thursday afternoon. Winds will not be as strong the further we go through the day. It will still feel cold, but wind chills will be in the upper single digits to teens versus going below zero.
