Wind getting in the way of a good day

Tuesday morning is starting off a lot milder thanks to a southern breeze. Especially west toward the Tri-Cities, winds have stayed steady around 15 mph overnight, so temperatures have held in the 40s.

Eastern Nebraska will also see more cloud cover roll in through the afternoon, but conditions will be mostly sunny overall.

That breeze out of the south and southwest will really pick up for all by the late morning and early afternoon, with gusts around 30-40 mph possible across southeast Nebraska. We’re in the middle of a strong low off to the north and a strong high pressure system off to the east. With that greater pressure change over a short distance, that will drive higher winds for us.

Other than that, temperatures will still be in the lower 70s for a couple more days. As winds calm for Wednesday, we should squeeze out a few more degrees for a very warm day. On Thursday, we’ll have a cool front move through with more cloud cover and strong winds once more.

We may see a sprinkle or two as the front moves in, but not much will come from that as we’ve seen all month long.

And would you look at that! Thanksgiving has made it to our 10-day forecast, with cooler temperatures in store by then. Also we’re counting down the days until we can start gaining daylight back, which will start after the Winter Solstice a few days before Christmas.

Countdown

Until then, still have rain chances in the forecast for this upcoming Sunday and Monday, as light rain may be a possibility through the second half of the weekend.
