Wind poses high fire danger; warming this weekend
Following the first lunar landing since 1972 yesterday, the moon is looking full early today from our view in Lincoln, Nebraska. Peak illumination will happen Saturday morning, with clear skies for viewing!
The string of 60-degree days continues today and into this weekend. Overall, we continue to be within a quiet weather pattern until later on Tuesday next week.
Highs for Friday will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s across the area, but the wind will once again be noticeable. Gusts later this morning will pick up and gust around 30-35 mph well into the afternoon.
Winds will be especially strong today and into Monday/Tuesday of next week. With this, very high fire danger conditions are expected today through Monday, with the greatest risk on Monday.
We continue warming this weekend with 60s and a lot of sunshine! This is when we get winds again out of the south. Monday will be a lot warmer in the 70s.
Early next week, a quick-hitting round of winter will come and bring minor accumulations of rain/snow (if much at all) Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Impacts overall will be short-lived, but the morning commute next Wednesday could be slicker than usual as a result.
