Windstream to shut down service across Nebraska for five hours
9: 50PM UPDATE: Update on Windstream, officials say services were restored at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday. 4 counties (Gage, Otoe, Sanders, and Adams) are still experiencing 9-1-1 interruptions that should last for another 3 to 5 hours. Windstream is currently monitoring their systems.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Telecommunication provider Windstream will be shutting down service beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday due to a transformer fire at their location in Lincoln.
Spokesman Scott Morris says devices were put on generators at the time, but they failed Saturday.
Customers across the state can expect an interruption in service for about five hours as crews work to fix the problem.
Windstream serves 23 counties in southeast Nebraska.
Cellular service may also be interrupted.
911 services in Lancaster County and Lincoln have also been affected.
