Windy for several hours Monday morning to night
Winds on Sunday ramped up out of the north following a front that came through in the later morning hours, leading to breezy conditions again.
And the overnight hours into Monday morning have already seen decently strong winds. We’ll experience these gusty winds practically all day Monday.
Peak wind gusts may not happen until about 5-6 p.m. Monday evening for Lincoln.
Here’s a look across the state at winds hour-by-hour on Monday, gusty for several hours today then coming down late tonight.
We’ll be much cooler today by almost 20 degrees compared to Sunday and the weekend. These temperatures are about average for this point in April.
High winds mean extreme fire danger for almost all of Nebraska as well. A Red Flag Warning is in place for Monday afternoon through the evening hours.
Looking past Monday, Tuesday looks to be the nicer day of the week with less wind and temperatures right around 70.
We’re much warmer by the middle of the week toward Thursday.
Thursday also has a chance for some scattered severe storms somewhere across eastern Nebraska into Iowa (Lincoln is sitting on the edge of this chance).
This will be something we’re watching, so stay tuned for updates this week. Rain chances still look rather limited until Easter.
