Windy start; small precipitation chances going forward
Frequent gusts of 30-40 mph have been seen across the area overnight and so far Thursday morning. The worst of the wind will continue through the early morning hours before gradually backing off later in the day.
Winds will shift to be out of the west after a cold front sweeps through by the late morning. Gusts will decrease to around 25 mph for much of the afternoon.
Precipitation-wise, the coming of that front could bring a light rain shower here and there across eastern Nebraska, while snow mixes in on the backside of this system in far northeast Nebraska. Clearing will follow this into Thursday night.
There are a few more small precipitation chances heading into the weekend, but that’s it for a while. We’ll slightly cool down even though temperatures will remain above average.
Winds will stay relatively calm to what we’ve seen from Wednesday and early Thursday for the rest of this week and the coming weekend.
