Winter storm makes traveling difficult for high school state football fans

High school state football championships continued at Memorial Stadium Tuesday morning, as a winter storm is making its way through Nebraska.
“It’s cold and I’m worried it’s going to get bad,” Norfolk resident, Alex Taylor said.
Some people prepared a couple days in advance, traveling as far as Chadron and Scottsbluff.
“Well we left a couple days ago, came to Kearney and then came all the way yesterday to watch the Scottsbluff game,” Chadron resident, Josh McLin said.
A lot of schools have closed due to the snow that is expected. In northeast Nebraska, fans from Norfolk left the game early to try and beat the storm. They are expected to get anywhere from 8 to 12 inches.
“If it gets to that point, I’m not going to be driving him in a dangerous situation,” Taylor said.
Many fans say they are worried about the roads and plan on postponing their trip back home until Wednesday.
“I like the snow so I’m kind of excited to have snow for once but if it gets much worse tonight maybe a little interesting driving back,” York resident, Ben Mohorn said.
State football fans have advice for those who may think about driving through the winter storm.
“Pay attention to the news and road closings so yeah it’ll be a big one,” McLin said.
“If you are debating it at all, I would say stay home, get some hot cocoa and watch the game,” Mohorn said.
