Winter Storm Watch issued for western and central Nebraska

A winter storm watch has been issued for portions of north central, southwest and west central Nebraska by the National Weather Service.  Lincoln and the immediate area in not included in the watch but we will see heavy rain according to Meteorologist Dean Wysocki.  

Some of the cities in the watch area include:  Valentine, Springview, Spencer, Butte, Lynch, Ainsworth, Bassett, Rose, O’Neill, Atkinson, Hyannis, Mullen, Thedford, Halsey, Dunning, Purdum, Brewster, Arthur, Tryon, Ringgold, Stapleton, Ogallala, Paxton, Grant, North Platte, Cody, Eli, Merriman, and Kilgore.

The winter storm watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through late Thursday night.

Heavy snow is possible and 6 to 11 inches of snow could fall in the watch area.  Mixed precipitation with ice accumulations are possible in some areas on Wednesday.   Winds could gust as high as 35 mph Thursday.
