One of those bystanders was Amber Vacek of Lincoln, she was getting ready to leave for the night when the crash happened.
“All of a sudden I just hear a huge crash, the impact, I saw the car go flying. The other one came directly this way. I thought it was going to hit me so I was kind of going towards my car, making sure I was out of the way,” Vacek said.
She said the area was chaotic.
Vacek says it’s something she will never be able to forget.
“I was frozen, I just stood there and was just like, what in the heck just happened,” Vacek said. “Everybody was screaming, crying, running this way, running that way, people just running across the street, running from everywhere. I literally felt like I was in a movie, I was just paralyzed.”
At the time of the crash, children were standing on the sidewalk playing with chalk, Vacek said.
A bouquet of flowers has been placed at the scene of the crash as of Monday afternoon.
