Woman accused of DUI after crashing into event center in Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was arrested Thursday after crashing into an event center in Grand Island, police say.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. at the Heartland Event Center.

Police said a vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Nyawaragak Puk, hit the south side of the Bosselman Conference Center building.

The collision caused $50,000 in damage to the event center, according to police.  The vehicle also had “severe” damage.

Puk showed signs of impairment and failed a preliminary breath test, police said.

She was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including felony criminal mischief and first-offense DUI.
