Woman accused of DUI after crashing into Lincoln nursing home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A driver has been ticketed after a van crashed into a Lincoln nursing home on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old woman is accused of reckless driving, DUI, no valid registration, no driver’s license and carrying a concealed handgun while under the influence.

The crash happened shortly after noon at Sumner Place near 20th and Sumner streets.

Witnesses told police that the van was speeding and went over the curb.

It then hit a retaining wall, a tree and the pillar of the nursing home’s carport before flipping on its side and crashing into the front doors.

Videos of the damage the van left in its path were sent to the NOW Local News App.

The driver was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

No one else was hurt.
