Woman accused of first-degree assault after shooting man in Omaha, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was arrested Sunday night after police say she shot a man in north Omaha.

Before midnight, officers were sent to an area near 16th and Emmet Streets on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for an injury that was not life-threatening.

Ashunta Brown, who was at the scene, was then taken into custody, according to police.

She was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony and two counts of child neglect.
