Woman accused of stabbing man at Lincoln apartment sent to district court

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 38-year-old woman accused of stabbing a man in a north Lincoln apartment will stand trial.
On Thursday, Lancaster County Judge Thomas Zimmerman found probable cause to try Brittany Borrell and sent her case to district court.
About 1:30 a.m. on April 10, Borrell, another woman and a 35-year-old man were at the Waterbrook Apartments near 27th and Superior Streets, police said.
The man made a comment about the other woman’s ex-boyfriend, who had recently died, according to court documents.
The woman “ran up on him,” police said, and he pushed her to the ground.
An arrest affidavit says that’s when Borrell stabbed the man in the stomach.
The victim told police that he pulled the knife out and pressed a shirt against his wound.
When officers arrived, he was “moaning in pain,” court documents say.
Borrell was “visibly intoxicated,” police said.
She is charged with second-degree assault and will be arraigned in district court on Sept. 4.
About a month after the stabbing, Borrell was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Authorities said that on May 11, she was driving drunkenly and recklessly on Highway 77 with a child in her car.
She pleaded guilty last week to DUI and misdemeanor child abuse in exchange for prosecutors dropping other charges in the case.
Borrell was sentenced to 30 days in jail and seven days on house arrest, but court documents say she failed to report for house arrest.
Her driver’s license will also be revoked for six months.
