Woman accused of trying to sneak contraband into Lincoln prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was arrested Monday after she tried bringing contraband into a Lincoln prison, the Nebraska State Patrol says.

Natalie Miller, 40, made it through security checkpoints at the Reception and Treatment Center to meet with an inmate.

Security video captured Miller taking an object wrapped in electrical tape out from her waistband, putting it on a plate and covering it with chips, an arrest affidavit says.

The patrol said staff suspected the item to be a controlled substance.  Shortly after, Miller and the inmate were confronted.

Miller was arrested on suspicion of conveying an article to an inmate.

The contraband will be tested by the patrol’s crime lab, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
