LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman is behind bars after an attempted homicide Sunday in western Nebraska, the Alliance Police Department says.

Around 10 p.m. officers were sent to a home in Alliance and found a man with “multiple” stab wounds to his arms and neck.

During an investigation, officers learned that the man was stabbed during an argument with his child’s mother, 24-year-old Valerie Cerny.

Investigators think Cerny was trying to kill the victim, according to police.

Cerny was lodged in the Box Butte County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree homicide.
