Woman assaulted by man on south Lincoln trail, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was assaulted Thursday evening on a trail in south Lincoln, police say.

Around 6:20 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was on the Tierra Williamsburg Trail near 33rd Street and Nebraska Parkway.

She exchanged “pleasantries” with a man who went by on a bicycle, police said.  But the man later returned and got off the bicycle.

He grabbed the woman by her shirt collar, according to police.  She pushed him away, but he grabbed her hip and shirt sleeve.

The woman eventually broke free and went home, where she called the police.  She had minor injuries.

Police said the man is white, 30-40 years old, 6-foot-3 and about 200 pounds.  He was seen riding a bicycle with “fat tires.”

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
