Woman was kidnapped and beaten for several hours, Nebraska police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A woman says she was kidnapped, taken across multiple counties and beaten for several hours.

The Grand Island Police Department says it conducted a welfare check Tuesday morning that led them to the 23-year-old victim, who told officers she was held against her will in Omaha.

She said Aurelio Romero-Oregonto kicked and punched her for several hours, causing injuries all over her body.

The woman was so scared of what he might do that she repeatedly apologized, hoping he would let her leave.

Both of them eventually returned to Grand Island, where Romero-Oregonto was arrested and jailed.

Even after being locked up, police say he continued to contact the victim, trying to emotionally manipulate her into dropping the charges.

Romero-Oregonto is also accused of tampering with a witness.
