Woman bit officer’s arm while resisting arrest at Grand Island hospital, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman caught with meth bit an officer at a Grand Island hospital on Monday, police say.

Around 5 p.m., officers were sent to Casey’s near Broadwell Avenue and Eddy Street to remove a person from the property.

Officers spoke with Mary Elizabeth Johnson, who said she had medicine in her coat, police said.

Investigators later found that she had 78.5 grams of meth, two pipes and a digital scale in the coat.

Johnson was taken to a hospital, where she resisted officers’ attempts to place her in handcuffs, police said.

During the struggle, she bit an officer’s left arm, according to police.

She was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including assault on an officer and possession of meth.
