Woman caught with 8 pounds of meth in Nebraska gets over seven years in prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A California woman will spend over seven years in federal prison for trafficking meth across Nebraska.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Teresa Martinez, 47, was sentenced Wednesday to seven years and three months in prison for possession with intent to distribute meth.
On Feb. 6, 2022, an Otoe County deputy pulled over a Ford Expedition near the Nebraska-Iowa border for a traffic violation, officials said.
Martinez and her daughter and co-defendant, Daisy Flores, were in the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, authorities found 8 pounds of meth and 4 pounds of marijuana, the attorney’s office said.
A lab test showed the meth was 89% pure.
After her prison sentence, Martinez will serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Flores has since pleaded guilty to the same charge. She is set to be sentenced on Jan. 3.
