LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A prison worker was charged Wednesday with sexually abusing an inmate in the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

Abbey Fielder, 27, was one of three women arrested in April after an investigation into improper relationships with inmates.

In February 2023, Fielder started an unwanted relationship with an inmate, according to court documents.

An arrest affidavit alleges that Fielder showed the inmate nude photographs and eventually had sexual contact with him.

The inmate told investigators that he wanted to refuse Fielder’s advances but didn’t feel like he could because she had authority over him.

Based on her text messages, investigators think Fielder had previous romantic relationships with inmates that did not turn sexual.

Another woman charged in the case, Nicole Carter, formed a sexual relationship with an inmate when he was on parole, an affidavit says.

Carter is set to be in court on Friday.

Fielder’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 26.

The third woman arrested in April has not been charged, according to court records.
