LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was cited Tuesday in a deadly crash west of Lincoln earlier this year, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the 84-year-old woman was charged on suspicion of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in the crash on May 29.

It happened around 12:40 p.m. near Southwest 84th and West A streets when a Buick sedan pulled out of a driveway and hit a southbound pickup truck.

The crash pushed the Buick into a ditch, while the pickup rolled into the ditch on the other side of the road, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the pickup, 49-year-old James Springer of Lincoln, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
