Woman fatally hit by vehicle near Lexington

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle late Monday night near Lexington.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. on Highway 30 about 2 miles east of Lexington, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

A 19-year-old Lexington man driving a Jeep hit a woman who was walking in the road, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies attempted lifesaving measures on 19-year-old Angelina Navarrete-Chavez of Lexington.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Nebraska State Patrol, the Lexington Police Department and Lexington Fire and Rescue also responded.

The crash is still under investigation.
