Woman found dead in locomotive at North Platte train yard, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln County deputies are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a train in North Platte, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 9:30 a.m., dispatchers got a call from Union Pacific Railroad officials who reported that a body had been found in a train.

The train, which had recently arrived from Cheyenne, Wyoming, had been towed into Bailey Yard for repairs.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the body of a woman wedged in a small generator room behind the train’s cab, the sheriff’s office says.

“It appeared the female had recently passed away and she had no identification,” the sheriff’s office wrote in the press release.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death and to identify the body.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 308-555-9599.
