Woman found dead in rural northern Nebraska home; authorities investigating

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was found dead Wednesday at a home in rural northern Nebraska.

Around 12:45 p.m., the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a death at a home near Elgin.

Elgin is about 40 miles west of Norfolk.

Deputies found 64-year-old Debra Grothe, who was dead, according to Wheeler County Attorney Joseph McNally.

Authorities served a search warrant at the home as part of an investigation.  An autopsy has also been ordered.

The Nebraska State Patrol, the Antelope County Sheriff’s Office and the Greeley County Sheriff’s Office are helping in the investigation.

No arrests have been made, and McNally said there is no threat to the public.
