Woman reports indecent exposure on Mopac Trail

Lincoln police are looking for a man accused of exposing his genitals on the Mopac Trail near North 56th and Wilshire Blvd on Monday.
On June 17th, shortly after 11 am, a 22-year-old woman reported she was on the Mopac bike trail near N 56th and Wilshire Blvd when she saw a man wearing a t-shirt with no pants and his genitals exposed standing nearby.
The man was standing in tree line to the north of the path.
Some of the people who frequently use the trail don’t know what they would do in that situation.
“I would probably just keeping running, maybe a little faster and then report it,” Lincoln resident, Ryan Patel said.
“I have no idea, probably just keep biking faster,” Lincoln resident, Matthew Keyzer said.
Channel 8 Eyewitness News talked to the manager of the business, Lincoln Running Company. She says with the safety courses she has taken, avoiding the person is not the thing to do.
“If you see someone like that, look them in the eye and let them know that you see them and that you are aware because sometimes when you look away or you look intimidated that gives them more power and that’s not what you need,” Ann Ringlein said.
Some of the people on the trails had similar safety tips they follow before they head out to run, bike or walk.
“I always tell someone where I am running and I know the surrounding areas so always know what’s around you and look on the map to see where you are,” Patel said.
“For the most part, I just try and make sure people know where I am, I keep my cell phone on with tracking and I wear bright gear so I am always visible,” Keyzer said.
Although nobody was hurt, Ann says it’s always a good time to talk about safety.
“This is just a big wake up call and reminder that all the time we should be aware of whats going on,” Ringlein said.
He was described as a white male in his 20s with light brown hair.
Lincoln police is checking nearby surveillance to see if they can figure out who this was.
