Woman taken to hospital after being bit by dog in south Lincoln

A woman was taken to the hospital after she was bit by a dog in south Lincoln on Monday.

The dog, an Australian Shepherd, was running loose when it bit the woman near 39th and D Street, Lincoln Animal Control Manager Steve Beal said.

The dog’s owner received a dog at large citation, which carries a $100 fine if convicted, Beal said. The owner was also charged with city code violations for not having a license or rabies certification. Each carries a possible $100 fine.

The victim was taken to Bryan East. Her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, Beal said.

The dog is being boarded at a local veterinarian for 10 days, per standard operating procedure.
