York Police Department investigating email phishing scam toward local business

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The York Police Department is investigating an email phishing scam.
On Monday, the police department received a report of an email-phishing type scam that had victimized a local business.
According to the police department, scammers were able to gain access to business accounts.
Through these accounts, the scammers facilitated fraudulent orders of prescription medications to the business.
According to police, the suppliers were able to stop a large portion of the delivery of the meds from ever taking place.
York Police said they are continuing to work with law enforcement partners to investigate this event.
“The York Police Department strongly encourages everyone to be vigilant in monitoring online accounts to prevent criminals from gaining access to data which may compromise your identity or sensitive information,” the police department said in a press release.
According to police, these types of crimes are facilitated across multiple jurisdictions.
