York pool cutting hours and capacity this week amid lifeguard shortage

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — York’s public swimming pool is reducing hours and capacity this week due to a lifeguard shortage.

The York Family Aquatic Center said on Facebook that it will close at 4:50 p.m. Thursday and Friday because it is short staffed.

It will close early Wednesday, too, for a swim meet.

The pool will also reduce capacity on Saturday and Sunday because of the shortage.

“We hate to close and are still open to teaching more lifeguard classes,” the aquatic center said.

People interested in becoming a lifeguard are asked to email mvankirk@cityofyork.ne.gov.
