YouTube sensation Cam Wilder returns to Lincoln, draws crowd of over 4,000
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — YouTube sensation Cam Wilder made his return to Lincoln on Friday at the Sandhills Global Event Center.
The basketball content creator held a public event at Antelope park last summer, and it caused plenty of controversy.
A large crowd got out of hand quickly and local law enforcement had to get involved, sparking safety concerns.

But this year, event organizers made sure to prevent that.
“Everybody was pushing people into the court so no matter how many times we told people to stay back, and get back more people would get on the court,” said Ta’an Williams, president of The Honesty Project and event organizer. “It got kind of hectic to the point the police had to shut it down unfortunately. This year, we wanted to make a change. Make sure it’s in a facility that can contain it, and make sure we have LPD here as well to make sure we have security measures in place this time.”
And change they did. There were up to 15 Lincoln Police officers on site, with an additional 20-30 security guards.
There was also a local food and beverage vendor, and even medical assistance if needed.
“Just in case people pass out with it being a basketball event, there can be physical contact,” Williams said. “We want to make sure if someone breaks an ankle, or rolls an ankle that we have immediate on-site attention.”
With safety and security taken care of, that left for a fun Friday night at the event center.
“I love this type of environment, I just love that kids get to come out and have fun,” Williams said.
The max capacity at the event center is 5,000, but organizers wanted to limit the crowd to a smaller number of 4,200.
At around 6:30 p.m., a Channel 8 reporter witnessed someone being denied entrance due to max capacity.
